| Program Description |
| -- Career Technical Education Foundation, Inc., is a non-profit corporation established to run summer workshops for children of elementary and middle school age.
-- The workshops will be an exciting and fulfilling opportunity for your child to gain hands-on knowledge and experience in robotics, basic physics, science, math and technology. -- Children will be given a kit from which he/she will design and buld their own robot. The robots will not only be used as a tool for teaching, but also intended to complete assigned tasks. Each child will use his/her imagination and ingenuity to design and build their robot for competition on the last day. -- During each session there will be a mentor assigned to a group of children. Each mentor is a paid college student with a background in robotics, physics and math. -- Each mentor will fill out a Pinellas County Volunteer form and will be thoroughly investigated according to Pinellas County Guidelines. An adult who has met the criteria as established by the Pinellas County Volunteer guidelines will supervise each session. -- The curriculum for each workshop has been designed by Ron Hartman, Honeywell Systems Engineer for Space Guidance and Navigational Products, and J. Paul Wahnish, SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), a member of the faculty and a coach at East Lake High School. -- The workshop sessions will be held at East Lake High School in the Engineering Lab, Room 2149, and will begin at 9:00am each weekday and will end at 5:00pm. Each session will run for a one week period. -- ALL of the money generated from tuition for the summer workshops after expenses, (salaries, expenses, travel, incidentals, etc.), will be donated to the East Lake Engineering Academy and the East Lake Robotics Team. -- Tuition per child for each session is $350.00 -- Included in the tuition is a start-up kit with parts for a robot, snacks and a t-shirt. Space is limited. |
